Our Story

About TravelTern

We go to the edges of the map so you know exactly where to stand, when to arrive, and what to expect.

Why TravelTern Exists

TravelTern started with a simple frustration: most travel content was either too vague to be useful, or too staged to be honest. "Best places to visit in Greece" lists that could have been written by anyone, illustrated with stock photos that bore no resemblance to what you'd actually find.

We wanted something different. Guides written by people who had actually stood in those spots at 5 am with a camera, who had missed the shot and gone back the next morning to get it right, who knew which café had the best view and which hiking trail flooded in April.

The name comes from the Arctic Tern — Sterna paradisaea — the world's longest-distance migrant. It travels from pole to pole every year, covering more of the Earth than any other creature. That restlessness, that compulsion to see what's over the next horizon, felt right.

What We Stand For

Our Values

📍

Specific & Honest

We give you exact viewpoints, real timing, and the parts other guides leave out — including what didn't work.

📷

Photography First

Every guide is written with photographers in mind — light direction, golden hour windows, composition tips, and gear advice.

🌍

Responsible Travel

We advocate for low-impact travel, supporting local businesses, and respecting the places and people we photograph.

💸

Transparent About Money

Some links earn us a commission. We only recommend things we'd genuinely use ourselves, and we always disclose clearly.

🔄

Kept Up to Date

Travel info goes stale fast. We revisit and update our guides regularly so the advice you read is actually current.
